Binding frames your quilt, protects its edges, and gives the entire piece a finished appearance. I offer binding services for quilts I’ve quilted as well as quilts that simply need that final step completed.
Whether you prefer the clean look of machine-finished binding or the traditional finish of hand stitching, we can choose an option that suits your quilt and how it will be used.

What Will My Binding Cost?
Binding services are priced by the linear inch around the perimeter of your quilt. The final cost depends on the size of your quilt, the finishing option you choose, and whether you provide prepared binding or would like me to make the binding from your fabric.

I machine-stitch the binding to the front of your quilt, leaving the back ready for you to turn and finish by hand.
Machine Finished
$0.30 / linear inch
I machine-stitch the binding to the front and back of your quilt for a neat, durable finish completed entirely by machine.
Hand Finished
$0.40 / linear inch
I machine-stitch the binding to the front, then carefully hand-stitch it to the back for a clean, traditional finish with no visible machine stitching on the back.
Fully Hand Sewn
$0.55 / linear inch
I sew the binding to both the front and back of your quilt by hand for a traditional, heirloom-quality finish.

If you provide fabric rather than prepared binding, I can cut the binding strips, join them, and press the binding so it is ready to attach to your quilt.
If you’d like me to provide the binding fabric, the cost of the fabric will be added to your final price.

What You May Want to Know
1. Do I need to provide the binding?
No. You can send prepared binding with your quilt, provide fabric for me to prepare, or ask me to supply the binding fabric. Binding preparation is $15, with the cost of fabric added if I supply it.
2. How do I know how much binding I need?
Binding is calculated from the perimeter of your quilt. If you’re providing prepared binding, I can help you determine how much you’ll need based on your quilt’s dimensions.
3. What width should my prepared binding be?
For most quilts, I recommend 2¼-inch double-fold binding. If your quilt requires something different, we can discuss that before you send it.
4. Can you bind a quilt that you didn’t quilt?
Yes. Binding is available as a stand-alone service, so I’m happy to finish a quilt whether I did the quilting or not.
5. How long does binding take?
Most binding projects can be completed fairly quickly within a week. I’ll give you an estimated completion date when we discuss your quilt, with additional time needed for fully hand-sewn binding.
