The Story
One summer morning, I arrived at church and discovered an injured Luna moth. Our church property includes a four-acre pollinator habitat, so I gently moved the moth there, hoping it might recover. When I returned later, it was gone.
The encounter stayed with me and became the inspiration for this miniature art quilt. I wanted to capture the delicate, almost otherworldly quality of a Luna moth, using pale green organza for its translucent wings, embroidered antennae, and tiny silver seed beads scattered like stars.
It is a small quilt inspired by an equally small encounter—a reminder to notice the unexpected beauty that sometimes appears in our path.
