I designed The House That Love Built for a friend whose last name is House, and that became the starting point for the entire quilt. I wanted each part of the design to have a connection to her and her story.

The Story
I designed The House That Love Built for a friend whose last name is House, choosing each element to reflect something about her. A central house is surrounded by Log Cabin blocks and Ohio Stars, a nod to the state where she was born and raised. The rows of houses above and below represent the community that surrounds and supports her.
Purple, her favorite color, anchors the palette, while the combination of traditional blocks and a contemporary composition reflects her own blend of traditional and modern. Together, the elements tell a story of home, roots, friendship, and belonging.
